St John's Community Centre
2007 has seen exciting changes at St John's Church with the realisation of the St John's Community Project.
This new community facility was opened in January 2008 by local MP John Prescott.
Facilites currently available at St John's now include
- Three comfortable meetings rooms - the Upper Room (approx capacity 10), the Matson Room (approx capacity 25) and the Ladychapel (approx capacity 20)
- Kitchen facilities ("professional standard" oven, dishwasher, urn, etc.)
- Disabled access to all community rooms and areas, and disabled parking on the south side
- The Main Hall/Nave (approx capacity 175) - large area suitable for meeting, dancing, worshipping, etc. with seating available for 150+
- The Chancel - usable as a raised stage area for performing to an audience in the Nave
- Patio and grassed areas on south side of the building
