Saint John the Evangelist

Our church is dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist, one of the twelve disciples who accompanied Jesus during the climax of his earthly ministry in Galilee and Judea around the year 30 AD.

Five of the books of the Christian Bible are believed to have been written by John.

Saint John is also known as John the Apostle, and John the Divine. His feast day is celebrated on the 27th December in the Church of England.

The eagle has often been used as a symbol for John the saint, and hence an eagle features in the logo of our church.
